Greetings and Happy New Year from Hardin County District 4 Volunteer Fire Department. We hope you had a
great Holiday season and we all look forward to serving our Community in 2009.
We have a lot planned for this year. We are very close to completing a new helipad at the Cerro Gordo
Station (station 1). Due to weather it is not fully completed but the lights are on the way for it and the pad at
Mt. View (station 2). These pads are being used currently however, even without the lighting.
We also are in the process of starting to add living quarters to our stations. This means that we hope to have
members at the station actually staying there quite frequently. This will help in our response time to an
emergency. We are trying very hard to serve our Community better.
Other than our usual fund raisers that we have, we also have a new and simple idea we are going to try. It is
called the "Round up Program" and here is how it works. Take any or as many of your utility bills and let's say
the cost is $22.78. If you round that up, it would be $23.00, which is a 22 cent difference. That difference
each month, if you would, would go to your District 4 Volunteer Fire Department. The most we would get
would be $1.00 a month. It doesn't sound like much but if each household would participate, it could and would
add up. We hope you will consider it. We're not asking for monthly donations specifically, but should you
decide to participate, we ask that you notify us at the end of the year of what you have collected. We will
gladly come and pick up your donation or you can mail it to the address listed below:
