PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Junior Firefighter Program is open to youth ages 14–17 who are interested in learning more about the world of emergency services. Currently, we proudly have 16 Junior Firefighters (2025) serving alongside our department, responding to fire calls and helping with department events throughout Hardin County. _________
JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER MEETINGS On the Second Saturday of every month from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, all Junior Firefighters are to meet at Station 12 for their monthly meeting. During these meetings, they will receive gear and participate in lectures or hands-on training activities. These meetings are crucial for their development within the fire service. LOCATION: 90 Walnut Street, Savannah, TN 38372 __________
JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER CAMP This is a summer camp that we offer annually to all Hardin County residents aged 13-17, not currently involved with the fire department. This 3-day event was organized for teens to get a look inside the emergency service world as well as participate in daily hands-on activities, just as if they were on the fire department. We want to help inspire teens who may be interested in a future volunteer/career firefighter role. We also explore the other areas of Emergency Services, such as Emergency Communications Dispatcher, Law Enforcement, and EMS. Campers receive daily lunch and snacks. The camp typically is in June each year and has a max capacity of 20 students. This camp is offered at low to no cost.
What's the Junior Firefighter Program?
